Baby Shower Party Planning

Author: Gail Leino

It can be a lot of fun sitting down to do the baby shower party planning when you are the one expecting to receive lots of gifts for the baby of course, but you do get open them so its practically the same.

In planning the baby shower remember that its meant to be fun, so don't get all stressed out about everything being perfect. If you need some help there are bound to be lots of friends and your partner around to give it.

There must be food. Food is the great unifier and helps to bring all your guests together and gives them something to do with their hands if they happen to be a little nervous. Of course have all of your favorite treats but try to throw in some other foods that guests with different tastes will appreciate. A buffet is a great device for parties. It stays open during the party and guests can serve themselves.

Have a place where guests can put their presents. As you open presents during the party quietly take note of who brought what. If you need to, write it down or have someone else write it down for you. That way weeks from the party when you finally remember to sit down and write up thank you notes you'll know who brought each of the gifts and you can put in telling details about the gift so guests don't think that they are receiving a form note.

Last but not least all of your guests probably won't know each other so you should put together some fun games and activities to help them get acquainted. Probably the simplest and easiest way is the 'Who Am I' game. As the guests arrive pin or tape a piece of paper with a famous person's name on it to their back. This way all the other guests will be to see who they are but they don't know. The guests will have to mingle at the party asking each other questions about who their persona is in order to figure out what's on the piece of paper. You can give out prizes to the first, second and third guests who figure out who they are in order to further encourage mingling.
