Accept Your Faults As Part Of Your Self-Image

Author: Jordi Shoman

There is not a person alive that likes everything about himself or herself. Everyone feels that there are times when we don't behave in the proper way or do things that way we feel they should be done. How others see us is very important in our lives, but it should not become all consuming. We do have to accept the fact that no one is perfect and that we have faults. It depends on what our faults are whether we do anything to change our self-image or not. What you might perceive as a fault, others might see as a strength and envy you.

When you look at your strengths and weaknesses, more than likely you will see that your strong points far outweigh your bad points. You can't be too hard on yourself or you will start finding more faults. Be kind to yourself and accentuate your strong points to the fullest. Once you start doing this, you will find it easier to accept and change the things that you can. The old adages "Change the things you can and accept the things you cannot change" and "You can't please everyone" are good mottoes to apply to yourself and your life.

Forget about trying to please others when you look at your self-image. Too often people try to change things about themselves just to make friends and they end up resenting the friends. Treat yourself every now and then and don't put yourself down, either to yourself or others. Bringing positive thoughts into your life are a really good way of helping you to feel good about yourself.

One thing that you have to remember about changing your self-image is that you will digress and fall back into your old ways. Changing the things you do and the way you feel about yourself is something that will take time and effort.
