Girl's Bat Mitzvah Celebration

Author: Gail Leino

A Bat Mitzvah is the female version of a coming of age celebration of the Jewish faith. The parties for girls occur most often when they are twelve years old, and are then they are held responsible for their moral and spiritual decisions. Bat Mitzvahs are hosted by the parents, grandparents and friends and can be lavish galas rivaling weddings.

Bat Mitzvahs have become more popular in the modern era. Traditionally, only celebrations for boys were held with such celebration. A century ago there weren't celebrations for either child beyond a religious ceremony. Today it is regarded as a very important milestone which the Jewish community celebrates with gusto.

Planning a large party will require lots of space. Consider renting a hall or tent to put in the backyard if the weather will be nice. Plan your guest list and purchase or order the necessary invitations. The rest of the needed supplies are determined by the amount of people you will be serving food to.

Caterers usually handle food preparations, since there is such a large quantity needed. They can also spend the time in the kitchen while the family is at the synagogue having the ceremony. A caterer takes one less burden off of parents so they can also enjoy the day.

If you are renting, decorations may need to be limited to what there contract rules allow. Most will allow balloons and streamers, but not putting them up with tacks or nails. Other decorations can include pictures of the celebrant, table center pieces and flowers. A party supply store will have a party planning specialist to help with any questions you may have.

The party supply store will have all of the paper products, like plates, cups, napkins and silverware. They come in a variety of colors to match your decorations or whatever the celebrant's favorite color is. The options are unlimited.

The thank you cards and personalized favors can also be purchased from the party store. Enclose a picture of the celebrant from the Bat Mitzvah so everyone can remember what a great day it was!
