Constipation, Something That You Should Live Without!

Author: Michael Russell

Our bodies are much like a machine. When they get full of dirt and waste, they slow down and don't function correctly anymore. Less waste more energy, more waste less energy. It sounds logical, but because we are not 100% sure, we ignore our logic and go our way. Constipation is much more than just no being able to have a bowel movement. It is a failure of our bodies to clean the trash out. Don't become a trash collector, it could cause you to lose you health or even your life.

Do you always feel tired? It could be a result of constipation. Sometimes our loss of energy is so slow, that we forget what it's like to feel normal. As you get older, you are not able to digest and process food like you did when you were younger. Our bodies change as we age and we need to be aware of the changes. Lets take a look at some of the causes of constipation.

" Not enough water. " Not enough fiber in the diet. " Having a wrong balance of bacteria in the intestines. " Lack of movement. " Some medications.

These are just a few, but they can all cause or contribute to constipation. Lets take a look at each one.

Water is so simple, that lots of people overlook their need for it. 8 glasses a day seems like a lot, but that much is needed for all the functions of our bodies. I'm not talking about liquids, I'm talking about pure water. Coffee, tea, juice and other liquids are not water! Drinking enough water every day can cure lots of problems. Not drinking enough water can cause lots of problems. Your digestive system needs lots of water to function correctly.

We need fiber in our diets. Today's processed food has very little fiber and often this lack of fiber is the reason for our constipation. It's time to seriously think about what we are eating and make sure that our diets have enough fiber in them. Most people are more concerned about which gas they put in their car, then about what they are eating everyday. It's time to wake up! Take a supplement if you have to, but make sure you are getting enough fiber in your diet. We need the right bacteria in our digestive track to break down the food we eat, so that our bodies can assimilate it. When we are constipated, the food that stays in our intestines can start to produce the wrong types of bacteria. This in turn causes us to get more constipated, this then becomes a vicious cycle. There are also supplements for the right bacteria. Find what you need and use it.

Although our digestive system can move the stool through the intestines, physical movement greatly helps it along. Movement helps strengthen the abdominal muscles and really helps the digestive process. Exercising and stretching can make a big difference and be a big help in the way that our digestive system works.

Some medications can cause problems with our digestive system. In this case it's important to ask your doctor about possible side effects and to follow his advice.

Our bodies are much like a machine. When they get full of dirt and waste, they slow down and don't function correctly anymore. Less waste more energy, more waste less energy.
