Before Buying That Airline Ticket

Author: Steve Spiegel

In your local paper you will see all kinds of travel ads. Fly to Cuba only $199, or fly to Zimbabwe only $299, etc. But where you have to be careful with these packages is that tax and airport departure tax are not always included.

Last week I saw an angry couple at the counter of the airport here surprised they had to pay more $$$$ to get out of the country.

Let's say you have to leave sooner and/or postpone your flight. What happens then. These things happen. Sometimes these prices are not round trip and the prices are expressed per person even for the hotel rooms. Be sure to add everything. Compare total cost to total cost.

Question: I lost my airplane ticket. What can I do? Answer: Everything depends on your ticket: - As a precaution make a copy of your airplane ticket before your departure. If your ticket is stolen, you should file a report with the police and you will be reimbursed with your proof of purchase. - If you have a ticket for a regular flight, at the full fare, you must immediately advise your ticket agent. Often, and this is wise, you must send a written declaration within 6 months from the date of the theft. When the airline company or the travel agent are sure that your ticket was never used, you will be reimbursed.

You may be charged processing fees. In general, you will be reimbursed after the validity date of the ticket In order for you to be able to take the flight you booked, you will be issued with a replacement ticket. - If you have a charter ticket or a reduced fare ticket, check the purchase contract which probably states that there is no reimbursement in the event of loss of the ticket or change of dates. However, you will be reimbursed if at the time of purchase you bought insurance against the theft or loss of the ticket. In the event you did not buy insurance and have lost your charter ticket you will be out of luck.

Be sure to ask your local agent about this and know: anything you are lucky enough to buy from CancunSteve is safe from loss or theft as we always keep electronic copies of everything for your security and peace of mind. Ask your airline about electronic tickets. They will tell you its safer in case of loss.
