Environment and the Next Generation

Author: Lance Winslow

Often we hear environmentalists say "I want to leave a pristine environment for my Grand Children!" This is very noble indeed, hats off to that level of commitment and belief in the future; I truly applaud such wonderful selfless thought, however it is hard to say if the next generation will be good stewards or not, as they may have to cut down trees simply for survival due to the population increase and desired space.

Is the gentleman from the environmentalist party willing to take that risk or pass the torch yet or shouldn't we put upon ourselves to set things up in such a way that the problem never gets bad enough for them to have to worry? The last generation was not such wonderful stewards either and neither were the American Indians for that matter, as there are many accounts of them pillaging and even starting forest fires to drive game from the forest to hunt or kill their enemy tribes? Similar to Saddam lighting the oil fields on fire I guess, it appears humans as a species kind of suck in that regard, never have been so great as stewards really.

Although I am not an environmentalist, as I think most of them are completely nuts, we all know we need clean water and air for safe healthy living and we should all be concerned with that, and stay reality based as we find solutions which help mankind's progress and civilization, while simultaneously protecting the environment in North America. Be thinking here, we all need to get on the same page and stop fitting over semantics in all this time wasting sound and fury, as it does not signify much.
