This thing moves purposefully and aimlessly. At times the paddles cut the water with force, at others there are no paddles; it drifts among behemoth ships, and burned out vessels that sink away. Down narrow lanes that hug the shore, strung with lights that peak and fade, then out into the endless night, beyond the crush of the channel lines, out of sight of the fading light, where darkness fills the eyes and mind, and the ocean’s sound matches mine
