An Introduction To Email Marketing Strategy

Author: Steve Valentino

What is spam? Spam is any electronic communication that is unsolicited by the receiver. Taken literally, it is junk mail, full of unwanted ads that litter your inbox on a daily basis. Although hiding behind the guise of a marketing strategy, spam turns off more customers, hardly inciting interest in the product. Spam takes up a lot of space and, interestingly enough, eats up enough bandwidth to litter the information highway. What to do about spam? Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Report it

Spam needs to be reported, in order for Internet service providers to know exactly who the spammers are. As with anything, ignoring spam will not solve the problem, as it will not disappear on its own. Take an active step in reporting spam, since this will make a difference in weeding out those annoying spammers.

Block it

Once you've opened your web-based email, take the time to block spam rather than simply deleting it. Deleting spam only solves the problem temporarily. Use a blocking program that can easily be downloaded from the Internet.

If all else fails, seek help

If, despite numerous precautions, you still end up with spam, don't lose hope. A lot of websites out there are dedicated to helping you in your battle with spam. Just remember that you are not alone. More help is on the way as governing bodies are getting involved in this issue as well.

Email marketing strategy, more commonly known as spam, is actually a decreasing trend nowadays as more and more governing bodies are taking actions to curb it. At the moment, 18 states have already embarked on programs aimed at eradicating spam.

As a marketing strategy, spam actually does more harm than good. Dealing with it is basically the same as shooing away unwanted salesmen from your front door, but with annoying frequency.
