How To Generate Targeted Leads

Author: Mike Hill

There are many ways you can go about directing traffic to your opt-in web page. The first step in generating traffic is to find leads that are targeted directly for your market. No matter what type of lead generating tool you use, it is important that your visitors will have an interest in what you are offering. These are called targeted leads. These people have great interest in your market and are more likely to visit and stay. Those that are non-targeted are those who have no interest what so ever in what you offer on your opt-in page. Funneling them to your web site would have no impact on your sales at all.

One very popular way of generating targeted leads and bringing them to your opt-in site is using articles, just like this one you are reading now. Articles have become an excellent method of generating the leads you want for your email list. A well-written and optimized article will do exactly what you need to bring traffic. Your article should include a few vital things. First, it should be optimized with your chosen keyword(s). This will allow those searching to find your article quickly and easily. In your article and again at the end, it should include information and a link to your opt-in page.

Pay per click or PPC, is another popular way of advertising your opt-in page on major search engines. PPC is paid advertisement for your web site. You sign up for the PPC program on Google or Yahoo. Then when your keyword is heavily searched, your web site will be in the Sponsor related section. Generally, these are placed first and at eye level for the user. The problem with PPC is that it will cost you a specified amount of money per click. The great thing is that your web site is listed prominently among the others and you only pay if a user clicks your link. This will help you know if your PPC ad campaign is effective and is getting your opt-in web page seen by users at many different search engines.

You could also advertise your opt-in page in an E-zine. E-zines can be particularly useful in advertising your opt-in page. This option works well because the people that are receiving the E-zine in question have requested it specifically. This means that they have an interest and will be more likely to consider your products and services. The key to this is to advertise in an E-zine that has relevance to what you offer on your opt-in web page.

The most important aspect of all advertisement is to target the audience that would be most likely to want what you offer. For example, if you are offering hair care tips for women, you will not want to advertise in an E-zine that is about sports memorabilia. If you choose articles as an advertising method, you should write something about hair care, not web site traffic generation.
