How to Optimize Your Adsense Sites

Author: Jeff Pettit
Google adsense is a great place for new marketers to get their feet wet earning money online. It's simple, place the Google ads on your website or blog, visitors click on an ad they are interested in, you get paid.

There are plenty of sites about setting up your account or web page so I won't go into that here but if you already have your adsense account up and running the following tips may help you to optimize your sites for maximum income.

If you are just starting out and want to test your adsense placement I recommend using a vertical ad placement to the right of your webpage. This will make the ads look similar to the vertical Google search results which we are all customized to using. Placement to the top and left also work well but may get in the way of other items you have on your webpage. Wherever you put it keep it near the main content of your site.

If you are using a blog site to display your ads make sure you check you have added the correct adsense id to the html. Some bloggers will not automatically add your id when you set it up. You will need to edit it manually and include your id starting with 'pub-''

Use adsense templates that match your website or blog design. Too many bright colours aren't easy for some to look at and they will not stay long on your site.

Provide relevant and up to date information. Try updating your blog everyday or adding a new webpage to your site. This will make your page visitor and search engine friendly.

Be consistent. Whether you are writing blogs or articles to generate links, or some other form of traffic generation, keep at it a little each day.

Analyse traffic data. Use the channel account on Google Adsense to see which pages or sections of your site are getting the most hits. Optimize the ones that aren't seeing any clicks. You may need to tweak some of your pages to make sure google is displaying relevant ads for your visitors.
