The Best Places to Buy a Spanish-English Dictionary

Author: Clint Tustison

There are a ton of places where you can purchase a Spanish-English dictionary. Some of these places are better than others and there are positives and negatives for each place. Knowing how and where to buy these dictionaries will help you get the best deal and the best selection.

Local Bookstore

This is probably the most common place where people interested in learning a language buy a Spanish-English dictionary. Even with the Internet, there are many people who feel more comfortable going to a physical location and holding the dictionaries in their hands to check them out and see if they like them. Also, believe it or not, there are some people who are still skeptical of buying things over the Internet, including Spanish-English dictionaries.

Online Bookstore

More and more common is the option to buy your Spanish-English dictionaries online through various websites that sell books and other items. There are many of these websites available, including more common places like Amazon.com and bn.com.

However, one of the best book websites that I like is addall.com. The reason I like this website so much is that you can search for a book by title, author, ISBN, or keyword, and then add some other parameters and it will bring back the price at a ton of other retailers. For example, you can search for a specific Spanish-English dictionary and it will bring back the price for the book at almost 20 different online retailers, including the price for shipping and handling. This is definitely an excellent website.

There are a couple of reasons that I prefer to buy Spanish-English dictionaries and other books online: 1) There is much more selection that at your local bookstore, 2) You can often get used copies that cost less money (and most of the used copies are still in excellent shape).

Other Countries

Another option that you have when interested in buying a Spanish-English dictionary is to buy one when you are in a Spanish-speaking country. I know that this sounds a bit extreme, buy hear my out. Chances are that if you are interested in buying a Spanish-English dictionary, you are also interested in visiting Spanish-speaking countries. My suggestion is that whenever you are in another country, try and track down some good reference material that isn't available to you at home.

For example, my brother went to Argentina once and brought back a neat little synonym-antonym reference book that you couldn't find anywhere in the U.S. Also, by taking the opportunity to buy Spanish-English dictionaries in another country, you'll also most likely save money because they will cost less than what you would pay for them somewhere else.

All in all, there are some different options that you might want to consider when looking for a Spanish-English dictionary to buy, or any other type of reference material.
