Chair Massage Schools

Author: Michael Bustamante

Chair massage is taught as a preventative tool for relief of discomfort. Certification in Chair Massage takes only a few weeks, and there are many schools, both traditional and alternative, to choose from.

Most physical symptoms of pain can be attributed to a lack of circulation. Tightening of muscles caused by excessive stress and inactivity can hinder flow of blood and lymphatic fluids. This can result in mental dullness, waning energy, and susceptibility to injury - and this is where chair massage is most helpful.

Chair massage can be used to relieve carpal tunnel syndrome, neck and back strain and pain, and eye strain. Seated in a massage chair, muscles of the back and neck are extended, eyes are closed, and relaxation begins. A chair massage takes about 15 minutes and the client remains fully clothed, making this a very comfortable, accessible, and convenient form of massage. A chair massage increases circulation of blood and lymph and induces relaxation of muscles, reducing tension in the back, neck, shoulders, and eyes. A chair massage revitalizes mental faculties and promotes a sense of wellbeing.

Chair massage practitioners often make office calls and house calls. You might also find a chair massage offered in an airport, a mall, a hospital, a hotel, or a convention center.
