Colloidal Silver Generators

Author: Steve Valentino

Colloidal Silver Generators are electronic devices used for manufacturing colloidal silver suspensions. The process involves immersion of high-quality silver electrodes into distilled water and electrolytic generation of sub-microscopic silver particles. Once a generator is activated, the fine colloidal product can be visually perceived.

Commercial generators work on a source of current flowing through electrodes kept immersed in steam-distilled water. No preservatives or starters like salt are used in the process of a fine preparation since they alter the chemical composition of the final product. A generator is considered good if it is capable of manufacturing ultra fine 5 to 10 ppm yellow solutions with optimum particle size of 0.0050.015 microns. These colloids have weak Tyndall Effect indicative of their minute particle size.

There are two main types of commercial generators. In a constant voltage type of generator, the voltage is maintained at a steady value generally between 30 to 50V. The silver ions are sintered off from the electrodes into the distilled water. The increase in the concentration of the silver ions increases the water conductivity, which in turn accelerates the release of the particles from the electrodes. The disadvantage of this equipment is the sudden generation of large silver particles not recommended for use. The constant current generators possess a regulator to reduce the voltage and hence maintain the strength of the current at the desired level. This results in uniform production of silver particles. However, using this method creation of a colloid over 15 ppm is difficult since it results in agglomeration due to neutralization of charges. Improved models of automatic generators are now available in the market. These gadgets are equipped with a built-in motor that keeps the silver particles in motion and prevents agglomeration.

Simple generator kits for home production of the colloidal silver have become immensely popular. The kit components are freely available and can be procured for less than $20. They are a good means of investment and hold promises of good high-end returns.
